May 4th Seminar

It was a fantastic seminar with Royce Gracie the UFC cage fighter on Sunday 4th May. A total of 54 people were on the mat with people from as far away as Scotland and Milton Keynes attending, it was great to see old friends and new such as the Tims Matlock crew, the Caged steel lads, Ross Pettifer, Linton Charters and many more.

A special thanks is owed to Kerry Bottom and Debbie Walsh who quickly organised the mornings turnout with calmness and ease. Royce was especially pleased with the calibre of the students and said that the technical level and techniques were very high.

Congratulations on attaining your well deserved blue belts to the following after a long hard effort (please note some of these students are black belts in other martial arts) :-)

Congratulations to the newest black belt students in the kids classes! Adam Tiller, Tom Hardwick and Sam and Joe Travers were all awarded their grade on the 3rd of December 2007, some of them have been training for over 8 years!

Well done to Michael Gabbitas who fought on the recent storm force 7 event! Michael won his first fight by battering his opponent in both rounds to win by a unanimous judges decision. His second fight (a loss) was a valiant effort in light of the fact that he stepped in to fight in another competitors place at short notice! Thanks to everyone for the quality support throughout the night.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Rodrigo seminar. Congratulations to Doug McGraghan, Michael and Andrew Gabbitas, for all getting your blue belts!

Storm Force 6 results are in! Craig Welsh represented the club on the Saturday night event held in Rotherham. Craig Welsh fought well but unfortunately lost after a technical knockout. Well done from everyone!

Well done to the winners of our Easter interclub friendly competitions! The white belt competition winner was Ed Thatcher with Steven Lee (aka Deef) as the runner up. The blue belt competition winner was Chris Moss with Ben Smith as the runner up.
